TEXTBOOK OF AYURVEDA, VOL1 : Fundamental Principles (H) by Lad, Vasant -In his Ayurvedic Studies Program, Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician, teaches Ayurveda as a science of moment-to-moment living. Each lecture that he gives flows from his own heart in a river of healing wisdom that is inspired by and pertinent to the students who are present at the time of the lecture. This textbook is a presentation of Dr. Lad's years of teaching in that classroom setting. It conveys the philosophical and fundamental principles of his first year Ayurvedic Studies Program at the Ayurvedic Institute in a dynamic and inspirational way. This book will give the student a detailed foundation upon which to pursue deeper knowledge, including that of the future volumes in this series.
TEXTBOOK OF AYURVEDA, VOL.2: A Complete Guide To Clinical Assessment (H) by Lad, Vasant. Dr Lad teaches a systematic method for identifying the causes of illness and the stages in which a disease unfolds. This paradigm of cause and effect (etiology and pathogenesis) is the key to understanding how disease can be prevented through awareness of the subtle energetic disturbances that precede structural or functional damage. Sharing from a wealth of clinical experience, Dr Lad presents principles and methods of assessment using a combination of the most helpful Ayurvedic and modern techniques.
YOGA OF HERBS: An Ayurvedic Guide To Herbal Medicine by Lad, Vasant & Frawley, David - For the first time, here is a detailed explanation and classification of herbs using the ancient system of Ayurveda. More than 270 herbs are listed, with 108 herbs explained in detail. Many of the most commonly used Western herbs will be found here, with a profound Ayurvedic perspective. Important Chinese and special Ayurvedic herbs are introduced. Beautiful diagrams and charts, as well as detailed glossaries, appendices and index are also included.
YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI - by Stiles, Mukunda - This is an English rendering of the classical text on yoga and meditations that maintains the poetic forms of the sutras. Patanjali is to Yoga what Buddha is to Buddhism. His sutras -- scriptural narratives sometimes defined as literally "the path to transcendence" -- are a darshan, or philosophical world view and method to aid the awakening of self-realization. Patanjali reveals a set of landmarks that enable practitioners to lift the veils and study the hidden self, eventually following this path to enlightenment. Stiles' translation and interpretation is a concise and insightful rendering. The volume provides clear understanding for students of yoga, Eastern philosophy, and psychology, who want to use the sutras for spiritual practice or further study. The Sanskrit/English keyword section in the back of the book makes it particularly useful for the latter.
AYURVEDIC COOKING FOR WESTERNERS - by Morningstar, Amadea - Amadea Morningstar, co-author of the best selling Ayurvedic Cookbook, received many requests for Western recipes that utilized Ayurvedic principles. Well, here it is! Sure to be a strong best-seller, this one of a kind book represents a dramatic enhancement for people who want to practice Ayurvedic health practices in the West.
SECRETS OF THE PULSE: The Ancient Art Of Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis (O) -by Lad, Vasant Thousands of years ago, Ayurveda described multiple levels of the radial pulse that could be used to interpret the status of the organs and systems of the body as well as the mental and physical constitutions of the individual. For the first time in the West, this book presents this ancient art and provides a method by which anyone can learn to read one's own pulse. Imbalances and potential disease states can be detected in their early stages, giving one the opportunity to correct them before they affect the quality of life. With practice and guidance, one can acquire the proficiency to use this knowledge to heal self and others.
AYURVEDIC YOGA THERAPY -by Stiles, Paul - Mukunda Stiles presents sequences of Vinyasa and pranayama suited to various Ayurvedic body types, while steering away from an increasing tendency to "medicalize" yoga therapy by avoiding prescriptive recommendations for specific medical diagnoses. Yoga therapists and practitioners using this book can access a deeper level of preventative self-care, attuning to the rhythm of each individual. Enlivened by wisdom teachings, it provides food for body, soul and spirit, guiding practitioners towards fulfillment of their potential.
